Douglas Dam Headwater and Tailwater Campgrounds

Douglas Dam Campgrounds are TVA owned campgrounds located in Sevierville, TN. The campgrounds consist of two camping areas: the headwater campgrounds and the tailwater campgrounds.

Douglas Dam headwater campgrounds contain a total of 60 campsites, of which 54 are equipped with electric and water, 2 are ADA accessible, and 4 are primitive tent sites. The campground also features 3 bath houses, a boat ramp, a swimming beach, and a picnic area. A recently developed TVA trail, called Trotter Bluff, is located near the entrance to the campground. It is an easy 1-mile trek through a forest full of chestnut trees and wildlife. You can also spot some artifacts lefover from the construction of the Dam.

The Douglas Tailwater campgrounds are located on the tail end of the dam, dispersed by the banks of the French Broad River. The campground contains a total of 61 campsites, in which 45 include electric and water and 2 are ADA accessible. There are 7 tent-only campsites and 9 RV sites. The campsite also features 2 bathhouses equipped with showers and toilets.

Just before entering the tailwater campground, stop by the overlook to observe stunning views of the reservoir. The overlook contains picnic tables and 2 group pavilions equipped with restrooms, electrical outlets, and grills. Visit TVA's Days Use Area website for reservation information. Near the overlook, you can also find an ADA accessible fishing pier, boat ramp, and a canteen.

Eco-Friendly Notes

For those who are camping at the headwater campgrounds, the dump site is located off the main entrance road near campsites numbered 1-5. At the tailwater campgrounds, the dump site is located in the middle of the campground, near the playground. Place all trash in dumpsters except fish debris. Please contact the campground host on duty for pick up and disposal of fish scraps. Dumping waste or gray water onto the ground is prohibited.

Pet Friendly Notes

Only 2 pets per campsite are allowed and must be on a leash or caged at all times. Pets are prohibited on beach, adjacent picnic areas and inside bathrooms. Owners must pick up after their pets.
